Naga Timepieces workshop

our story

A workshop built around patience and care

Naga Timepieces started with the conviction that watch repair, done well, is quiet work — deliberate, unhurried, honest.

background

How Naga Timepieces began

Naga Timepieces opened on Beach Road in Pattaya after its founder spent several years working in watch workshops in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. The decision to settle in Pattaya came partly from the city's community of divers and expatriates — people who wear their watches, often in demanding conditions, and who need a workshop they can talk to directly.

The name Naga carries a meaning familiar to anyone who has spent time in Thailand — a water serpent associated with rivers, seas, and the passage of time. It seemed right for a place that works on instruments that measure time and that often live close to the water.

We keep the scope of our work deliberately narrow: dive watch servicing and pressure testing, bezel insert replacement, and vintage sport watch overhauls. Doing a few things well is, we think, better than doing many things adequately.

mission

What we're here to do

Our purpose is to maintain the mechanical watches that people depend on — particularly those used in and around water. We document our work clearly, communicate honestly about what we find, and return watches in better condition than they arrived.

On vintage pieces, we consider ourselves stewards rather than restorers. The marks of a well-used watch are part of its record. Our role is to make it run correctly and keep it running, not to erase what it has been through.

standards

How we hold ourselves accountable

Written estimates

All work on vintage pieces and complex repairs is preceded by a written estimate. Work begins only once you've confirmed.

Documented pressure testing

Every dive watch that passes through for servicing is pressure-tested and the result recorded on a service card returned with the watch.

Timing verification

After movement work, we verify timing across multiple positions and note deviations on the service record before returning the watch.

Parts provenance

We document which parts are replaced and, where possible, source period-appropriate components for vintage pieces rather than modern substitutes.

Secure storage

Watches in our care are stored in a secure workshop environment throughout the service period. We carry appropriate professional liability coverage.

Clear communication

If something changes during a service — new findings, parts delays — we contact you directly before proceeding. No assumption that silence means approval.

expertise

Watch care along the Gulf coast

Pattaya sits at the edge of the Gulf of Thailand, and many of the watches we see have lived close to saltwater — worn by divers, sailors, and swimmers who rely on water resistance ratings that need to be maintained. Gaskets degrade. Crown seals wear. Pressure resistance that was adequate three years ago may no longer meet the watch's specification.

At Naga Timepieces, we work with owners who understand this — who want to know the actual state of their watch rather than receive a vague reassurance. Our pressure test documentation gives you a specific, dated record of what the watch achieved and when it should next be assessed.

For owners of vintage sport watches, the Pattaya region has a small but attentive community of collectors who understand that age-appropriate condition is worth preserving. We approach older pieces accordingly — documenting the work, working steadily, and returning watches that can continue to be worn and enjoyed.
